Process of Elimination: Find the Wrong Answers! Goal: The bookman will employ strategies to eliminate wrong answer choices on a multiple-choice test. Objective: While this lesson doesnt function to a specific SCOS objective, it is gea rubor toward the recognition of those skills via performance on the EOG test. Tutor Preparation: Select a reading going with multiple choice questions to go along with it, or consequence a series of multiple-choice questions about the passage utilize the question stems provided. Also, two different-colo ruddy writing utensils ar needed, preferably red and green. Guided Practice: Tell the school-age child that the goal at a time is to find the WRONG answers, instead of the right answers. Have the schoolchild read the passage aloud. Take turns if the bookman is having difficulty focusing. On the first question, ask leading questions to have the student utter answers s/he knows are wrong: Do you tease apart any answe rs you are sure are wrong? Could it be B? What does it say about that in the passage? If the student finds a right answer, show that this means all the others are incorrect choices. For every wrong choice, circle the letter in red, and for when you find the correct one, either by default from evacuation or by the students knowledge, circle it in green.

Independent Practice: Let the student finish the questions employing the like strategy. When necessary, model thinking strategies and questions for the student to ask him/her self. Closure: seize the student why s/he thinks it was implemental to investigate for the wrong answers.
